They finally did it. This week on 30 Screams or Less, we review Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil, starring Austin Abrams—and after years of questionable adaptations, this might finally be the Resident Evil movie fans have been waiting for.

We break down the film’s incredible tension, creature design, practical effects, comedy, IMAX experience, and the mountain of Easter eggs and video game references packed throughout Raccoon City. Does it follow the games directly? No—but it somehow captures the feeling of actually playing Resident Evil better than the movies that came before it.

We also discuss the film’s hilariously questionable character decisions, its approach to ammo and survival-horror mechanics, the mysterious absence of the T-Virus name, and why this one left us wanting to immediately pick up a controller and play the games again.
