The Year of Duke and Rogue: Final WCW Nitro

Well folks, we finally made it through the last chapter of World Championship Wrestling.

In this episode we’ll be covering the final Nitro which took place on March 26, 2001. A few days prior to the event, Vince McMahon bought the company and this final episode of Nitro starts with him talking about how the future of WCW is in his hands. This surreal episode took place six days before WrestleMania X-Seven and officially wrapped up the Monday Night Wars.

On the card dubbed the Night of Champions, every WCW title is on the line, and we also get a match between Shawn Stasiak and Bam Bam Bigelow for no apparent reason. The Nature Boy Ric Flair kicks off matters with a promo and finishes out the final WCW broadcast against the Stinger.

This run of shows is mercifully done as we tackled the final sixteen pay per views produced by WCW in Season 4 of The Year of Duke and Rogue. Those were 16 of the worst pay per views of all time.

We want to thank you for joining us during these trying times and difficult shows. We promise the next batch of episodes will be less depressing, but this was a historic run that we couldn’t say no to covering.

We’ll be following this up with a recap show and then moving on to something else. Feel free to chime in if there’s a year that you would like to hear us cover.
